What it involves, how to book a consultation, the protocol and the costs.

1. Contact The Autism Clinic

Please email Jonathan Tommey at the Autism Clinic Ltd. requesting a consultation.


2. The Autism Clinic Questionnaire

The questionnaire will need to be completed in FULL and returned to the clinic with copies of recent diagnostic tests, photographs showing aberrant symptoms such as eczema, rashes, abnormal stools, abdominal distension / bloating, visible lower ribs and so on. 3. Booking Confirmation

After the information has been returned you will receive a telephone call or email suggesting a date and time for the consultation. This can either be an IN CLINIC appointment with your child OR a TELEPHONE consultation (This may be preferred if distance and/or your child has problems travelling.

All In clinic appointments will be at The Autism Clinic Ltd, 45, Nightingale Road. Hampton. Middlesex. TW12 3HX.


4. The Consultation

The CONSULTATION will last approximately one and a half (1 ½) hours. Detailed analysis will have been previously completed from the questionnaire and diagnostic tests (if applicable) assessing the following issues;

  • Genetic predisposition
  • Conception, pregnancy and birth.
  • Medical history including ALL vaccinations and medical treatments and for what illness/symptom given.
  • Physiological and psychological symptoms and issues.
  • Nutrient deficiency symptoms.
  • A food diary.
  • The main aims and objectives for the visit.

Observations of physical symptoms will also be noted.


5. The Written Protocol

Following the consultation a protocol will be specifically designed to suit the patient. This will address their unique, individual requirements such as therapeutic nutrients and antifungal, antimicrobial, immune modulation, clathration, enhanced detoxification through to reduction and modulation of abnormalities.

The protocol is sub divided under the following sections and will cover;

  • My perception of the aetiology of the patients condition.
  • A list of HOME test to perform such as adrenal papillary, basal Barnes temperature test, thread worm observation, pH saliva and urine test, Hydrochloric acid secretory test and other appropriate tests.
  • Recommended (if applicable) laboratory tests including a research based definition and specificity of the test for patients with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
  • A supplemental prescription. This will offer an initial protocol taking into consideration basic nutrient requirements such as amino acids, essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants and additional support for liver, adrenal, dysbiosis and other known abnormalities.
  • Dietary changes including the selection of an appropriate diet and range of foods whether Gluten/Casein Free, Body Ecology, Specific Carbohydrate Diet, Low oxalate, Hypoallergenic or any that is specific to the patient. Specific nutrient dense foods will be highlighted to suit known deficiency symptoms maximising the availability of certain required nutrients.
  • Lifestyle recommendations are also instructed such as exercise type to alternative therapies to support the patient.


6. Supplement Purchases

The supplement prescription is sent to my supplement provider to source ALL supplements and provide a secure prescription site for you to order your supplements. These will need to be paid for before delivery and will be dispatched within 4-5 working days of receiving the prescription. Detailed instruction will be provided such as type of supplement, when to give and how much. These will be tailored to the patients specific requirements.


7. Laboratory Tests

The diagnostic laboratory tests will be co-ordinated through the specific laboratory(s) recruited to perform the tests. The laboratory will then issue the test kit with complete instruction re the sample required, how to take it, whether to stop supplementation and how to post it back to the said laboratory. The patients parent/carer will then be invoiced when the sample has reached the laboratory.


8. Reporting Home Test Results

The Autism Clinic will then receive the results for interpretation (within 2 weeks). It is the responsibility of the parent/carer to complete ALL home tests and email all results to Jonathan Tommey within 2 weeks of receiving the protocol.


9. The Follow Up Consultation

A follow up consultation will be made once all laboratory and home tests have been completed and received. This will enable the "fine tuning" of the supplemental protocol.

The patients General Practitioner may be contacted if prescription medication (s) are advised and this would initially be discussed with the parent/carer beforehand.

The additional supplements and neutraceuticals would then be added to the original supplement prescription.

A 3 month period would then be allocated before the next follow up consultation which will be booked at the end of this session.

There will be opportunities to discuss any issues through email correspondence.

10. The Costs

The Initial consultation.

To cover;
Half hour analysis and interpretation of the received questionnaire and diagnostic laboratory tests. One and a half hour consultation whether in clinic or telephone Three hour write up and delivery of the full prescription and protocol

TOTAL COST £300.

Follow up consultations and communications will be charged at £90 per hour.

Invoiced with payment by return (within 14 days) payable to "The Autism Clinic Ltd".
ALL laboratory tests will be invoiced separately by the laboratory(s) used. ALL supplement purchases to be paid in advance to the supplement provider.

11. Funding

For families within the United Kingdom, earning less than £45,000 gross per annum may apply in writing to Caudwell Children for a biomedical grant. I am an authorised practitioner for the Caudwell Children and if successful may grant up to £2,000 per annum for services provided by The Autism Clinic including the purchasing of diagnostic tests and supplements. All applications must be supported by myself.
